Henry Cavill To Play Sherlock Holmes In Legendary’s ‘Enola Holmes’ Adaptation

After scrambling amid some of the planet's biggest monsters in the most recent Godzilla film, Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown will soon play a character who finds herself in the shadow of a different pop culture titan: Sherlock Holmes.

Adapted from the Enola Holmes Mysteries book series by Nancy Springer, this live-action gig shifts the focus from Sherlock to Enola - from big brother to little sis' - who proves to be every bit as cunning as her surname would suggest.

As Variety reports, Cavill will play the iconic role in the upcoming Enola Holmes, which follows the adventures of Sherlock Holmes' younger sister.

The Superman actor is joining a cast which already includes Millie Bobby Brown as the title character, the much younger sister of the legendary detective Sherlock Holmes.

Production on the movie is said to get underway this summer, and no release date has been set yet.

It has yet to be been confirmed if this movie will be taken directly from this first book, however.

Killing Eve's Harry Bradbeer will direct with His Dark Materials writer Jack Thorne adapting the script which involves a missing teen whose father has been murdered.

Brown will also produce through her PCMA Productions banner, while Alex Garcia and Ali Mendes will oversee the project for Legendary.

Cavill will next be seen in Netflix's "The Witcher" series, which is based on the best-selling book series.

Speaking of Netflix, the next season of Stranger Things is set to drop on the global streaming service on July 4.
