Marvel's Avengers Will Not Change Designs After Fan Criticism - E3 2019

After Avengers Game Criticism At E3, Dev Confirms It Won't Change Character Designs

Off-Screen Marvel's Avengers Game Gameplay Leaks and Shows Us How It Looks in Action

Marvel's Avengers begins at A-Day, where Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor are unveiling a hi-tech Avengers Headquarters in San Francisco - including the reveal of their own helicarrier powered by an experimental energy source.

Will Square Enix change the character designs in the wake of the criticism, like what's happening with the Sonic the Hedgehog movie? Speaking to IGN, creative director Shaun Escayg held his ground on the designs. The lead combat designer did point out that none of them will affect the gameplay, so it sounds like in-game purchases will revolve around outfits and other trivial options.

Given Marvel's Avengers release date is set for May 15, 2020, there's still plenty of time for Crystal Dynamics to showcase its upcoming title and get in front of some of the biggest questions surrounding the game.

"We are always listening to, and welcome feedback from our community", said Escayg. "There are now no plans to change our character designs".

He did however go on to emphasize that the games was still in its early stages and that, although the core designs wouldn't change, they would be refined further before the launch.

"The level of detail and overall polish of the character models will absolutely continue to improve as we get closer to launch", he said.
