Dota 2 Announces Auto Chess Game, Dota Underlords

Dota Underlords is Valve’s Auto Chess, and the beta is out now

Dota Underlords is Valve's version of Auto Chess and you can play it right now

There always comes a time when fans of a gaming franchise creates a mod that proves to be equally or even more popular than the original.

Valve is expanding the Dota family with a new strategy game called Dota Underlords.

Earlier this year, Dota Auto Chess released on Steam, quickly becoming a hit among Dota players. It has nothing to do with chess and only superficially related to Dota. A feedback button has been added to the game, which should make it easy to report any issues once we get our hands on the open beta.

Dota announced last month that they were working on their own version of Auto Chess, saying more information would be released in the future. Those negotiations fell through and the two companies made a decision to go their own way.

Valve's official spin describes the game as "a battle of wits that will have you building, combining, and leveling-up a crew in a battle of dominance for the city of White Spire". Since the initial testing is done, Dota 2 Battle Pass owners can jump in to help stress test the game's servers and preview what the full game will be.

Players in open beta are able to play online against seven other players, practice their skills offline against bots, and join up together while playing against bots or other players in a party. This will also enable ranked matchmaking and both crossplay and cross-progression across all platforms. After a week of stress-testing through Battle Pass, an open beta will begin for everyone else, and this will include Steam (Windows, Mac, and Linux), Android, and iOS users. Hopefully, this will do better than Artifact.
