Barcelona's move for Ajax ace Matthijs de Ligt is 'practically lost'

Reports Champions League star shopping for a house in Paris nearing PSG move

Matthijs de Ligt Move to Barcelona Hits Hurdle Over Wage Demands & Lack of 'Humility'

Matthijs de Ligt is the hottest property in world football at the moment. According to Dutch newspaper "De Telegraaf" the Dutch centre back's girlfriend and mother-in-law, Aneekee Molenaar and Christiane Zillikens respectively, have recently made the trip over to Paris whilst de Ligt was in action during the Nations League "Final Four" tournament. New reports have now revealed what each side is willing to pay the Ajax star.

Barcelona have already signed Frenkie de Jong from Ajax for £65million and were keen to get his worldwide team-mate to join him at the Nou Camp.

MD cites information obtained from people involved in the ongoing negotiations to claim that an arrogant attitude, while beneficial on the pitch against world class opponents, has lead De Ligt to demand guarantees that he will be a regular starter for Barça and be paid more than a player of his young age and limited top level experience would usually earn. The Dutchman enjoyed a great season with Ajax, whom he captained to the UEFA Champions League semifinals. However, they have since been reportedly left behind by Juventus and PSG. The Parisians are offering the Ajax star a yearly salary of €12 Million, double the value of Barcelona's offer.

Matthijs de Ligt is one step away from joining Paris Saint Germain.
