The success of the Lego Star Wars games led to a number of additional licensed Lego games, with franchises getting the Lego treatment including Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean, Harry Potter, Batman, The Avengers, Indiana Jones, and probably more that I'm forgetting.
The Skywalker Saga will feature levels based on all nine of the major Star Wars movies. We have no idea what will happen to the Skywalker family in Episode IX, but we'll find out both in theaters and in this game, which was announced at E3 2019 this week.
If all goes as planned, LEGO Star Wars fans will have a bevy of content on their plates.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker opens December 20th and stars Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Domhnall Gleeson, Keri Russell, Richard E. Grant, Naomi Ackie, Anthony Daniels, Billy Dee Williams, Mark Hamill, and Carrie Fisher.
Most recently, Traveller's Tales adapted the then-new movie The Force Awakens, adapting the plot of that movie and even events that took place beforehand-a bit of padding, but sensible given that The Last Jedi wouldn't release until two years after. Said TT Games' Managing Director, Tom Stone, the studio's intent is to give fans of the franchise "complete freedom to explore the LEGO Star Wars galaxy". "It was an absolute pleasure to be part of the launch of the original LEGO Star Wars game and it's equally exciting to now move the series forward and help create a new era of LEGO Star Wars games".
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will be available on Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC and will hit shelves sometime in 2020.
