The actor told People magazine he had no idea that he was now the internet's boyfriend.
He responded, "I've been what?"
Fans noted that he carefully made sure not to touch other people in the photos, keeping his hand an inch or so from them even when putting an arm around them.
One Twitter user who posted photos as evidence of Reeves being respectful, noted: "Lol Keanu ain't taking no chances".
"That's, uh, that's wacky", the actor said. He added, "Well, the positivity's great".
Others remarked: "He is too good and pure for this world" and "Keanu Reeves doesn't have to touch you when you take a picture with him because he's radiating his godlike energy of pure positive vibes".
And the 54-year-old action hunk shared that the public outpouring of affection for him has 'been really nice and special for me'. Since its reveal, the bulk of the Fortnite community has referred to this as the John Wick skin; interestly enough, Mustard says that this was not the intention. ET's Matt Cohen caught up with Reeves at the Los Angeles premiere of "Toy Story 4" on Tuesday, where he explained why it's been so "nice" to be embraced by so many. "Ali Wong and Randall Park [are] just really wonderful artists and people, and it was really cool to get a chance to play with them", he said, speaking of his costars on the Netflix movie.
Reeves added: "It's nice when it's nice".

The character's so full of life. So when he's on the bike, I was just - like, he keeps doing poses, you know, and he can't stop. They put it into the film, so it was nice.
Keanu has a voice role in Toy Story 4, which bows June 20 and is among a glut of new releases bringing delight to his fans.
