You might not use all of its gamer-centric features, but Opera GX is a solid browser underneath all of the bells and whistles, and a perfectly reasonable choice if you prioritize privacy and like the idea of a browser that sounds like a spaceship.

Opera teased the new browser in May with a rather cryptic announcement that it was working on "a new and special version of our browser made with those of you who play games in mind". "We came up with the GX Control feature to make people's games run more smoothly without requiring them to compromise on what they do on the web". If you cant to check it out for yourself, you can download and test Opera GX from Opera. According to Opera, which invented the term, it has to have customizable CPU and RAM limiters, Twitch integration, a dedicated gaming-related tab, sound FX... Like the regular Opera browser, you'll find messaging services like Telegram, WhatsApp, Facebook, and Vkontakte built into the sidebar as well. The new software isn't created to stream games. Oh, and red neon lighting.

And last but not least, since this is a browser for online gamers and streamers, the browser's default news and start page links have also been customized to include any gamer's favorite destinations, such as Twitch, YouTube, Discord, and gaming-focused news sites.

It's not all about playtime, though - Opera GX also includes the best privacy features from the company's main browser, including one-click ad-blocking and a built-in cryptocurrency wallet.

Another is a dedicated button that'll pull up "GX Corner", which will feature the latest gaming news and discount deals to buy PC titles.

Overall, Opera GX includes all the features present in Opera's main desktop browser, now used by over 65 million users. While other browsers may eat into your RAM usage while running in the background, Opera GX will stay within the limits you define so it doesn't impact your gameplay. Currently, it's only available for Windows.
