Report: Grizzlies to hire Bucks assistant Taylor Jenkins as head coach

The final National Basketball Association head-coaching vacancy has reportedly been filled.

Jenkins also has experience as a head coach when he led the Austin Toros, the San Antonio Spurs' G League affiliate, to the playoffs in the 2012-13 season.

According to a report from ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Grizzlies are hiring Milwaukee Bucks assistant Taylor Jenkins as their next head coach.

While Milwaukee's impressive 2018-19 campaign has Budenholzer among the short-list of Coach of the Year candidates, the entire staff should get credit for the gains the franchise made this season.

Jenkins has built a reputation as an outstanding young teacher and tactician, something the Grizzlies saw as greatly attractive with a talent like Murray State point guard Ja Morant, within their crosshairs.

The Grizzlies hold the No. 2 pick in the National Basketball Association draft on June 20, where they are widely expected to select point guard Ja Morant. Jenkins will be replacing J.B. Bickerstaff, who was relieved of his duties in April after two seasons with the team.

Before they hired him, the Grizzlies met with Jenkins three different times, including once with team owner Robert Pera last week.
