Donaldson confronts Musgrove after HBP, both ejected

Josh Donaldson sparked a super confusing bench-clearing incident with Joe Musgrove

On Tuesday, Major League Baseball handed out a penalty - suspending Donaldson one game "for his actions".

The first inning of Monday's game between the Pittsburgh Pirates and Atlanta Braves brought some fireworks, courtesy of Joe Musgrove and Josh Donaldson.

In the end, Musgrove, Donaldson, and Pittsburgh skipper Clint Hurdle were each ejected from the game.

Donaldson has chosen to appeal his suspension, so he can continue to play for the Braves until his suspension is heard.

With two outs in the first inning, Musgrove's pitch grazed Donaldson's jersey.

Donaldson and Musgrove exchanged words, and the Braves third baseman went on to shove his way through Pirates players all in hopes of throwing down with Musgrove for ... reasons? Eventually, the bases cleared and while no punches were thrown, it was more intense than your average bench clearing incident.

"I wasn't really all that upset at all about getting hit by the pitch". I looked away to try to give him a chance to look away from me.

"He kept coming down the mound and looking at me", Donaldson said, according to 680 The Fan.
