The company says it is opening the equivalent of a new restaurant every seven hours.
Tim Hortons has more than 4,800 system wide restaurants located in Canada, the United States and around the globe. The company opened its initial Tim Horton's in China in February of this year, laying the groundwork for it to compete with the popular Luckin Coffee and Starbucks brands.
Tim Hortons is testing Beyond Meat breakfast options, as vegan meat substitutes sweep the industry.
The restaurant chain said that if the test performs well, it would roll out these new Beyond Meat breakfast sandwiches to all of its Canadian restaurants by the end of the summer. The five-year outlook for growth in the global burger market is expected to be 5% annually, with growth in the global coffee and chicken markets expected to be 6% annually, according to the company.
For this test run, the café chain will be serving up Beyond Meat Breakfast Sandwiches, Beyond Meat Farmers Breakfast Wraps and Beyond Meat Vegan Sandwiches to start with.
Last week, Recipe Unlimited Corp. announced it would launch a plant-based burger from Beyond Meat competitor Lightlife Foods in June.
The move comes just weeks after Beyond Meat made its public debut - the most successful IPO since the financial crisis - as demand for plant-based food heats up. The Lightlife burger will be available at 70 Kelsey's Original Roadhouse locations starting June 3.
