The Walking Dead is getting yet another video game, but this time it's in VR! Hopefully it also features the genre enhancements and overall high quality of that game. With The Walking Dead Onslaught, you can bet the studio will deliver on an experience that will have you tackling the undead with real motion melee and ranged combat.
Curiously, this isn't the first The Walking Dead VR game; last year, The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners was announced, to be developed by Skydance Interactive, who made Archangel: Hellfire - due for release this year. The announcement was made today and was accompanied by an official announcement trailer which is embedded below, providing a quick taste of what you can expect from The Walking Dead Onslaught game now under development.
The Walking Dead is a huge show for AMC, and it has spawned the Fear the Walking Dead spinoff series.
The Walking Dead Onslaught arrives as the Telltale series comes to an end and fans are looking to fill the gap. "This is a standalone game experience that is carried by one of the most beloved TV IPs in the world. AMC is an incredible partner, encouraging us to push immersion to a new level that can only be experienced in VR with 'The Walking Dead'". "We're thrilled to be working with Survios, an industry leader in world-class visuals and innovative gameplay, to give players the chance to experience first-hand the terror and thrill of The Walking Dead's apocalyptic world".
The VR game will feature a new narrative campaign, real-motion combat, melee and player progression with 48 weapon perks. We are progressing VR with interactions between you and an object, offering a variety of end results through multiple thresholds.
The Walking Dead Onslaught is coming to PC (HTC Vive or Oculus Rift) in Fall 2019.
