Netflix heads to E3 to talk turning TV shows into games

Netflix is coming to E3 to talk about turning their shows into games

Netflix will be talking games development at E3 2019

Yes, you read that correctly.

With E3 just a few short weeks away, and both EA and Sony backing away from hosting press conferences this year, E3 2019 has opened up a little for some new players.

In a forced Twitter conversation between the official E3 account and Netflix's sci-fi and fantasy-centric NX account, the two companies revealed that a Netflix E3 panel presentation is happening at the convention this year, and it will be titled "Bringing Your Favorite Shows to Life: Developing Netflix Originals into Video Games".

Based on the panel's title alone, it is easy to discern it will focus primarily on Netflix originals that are being adapted into games, and less on Netflix series adapted from gaming properties.

Of course, this isn't Netflix's first videogame rodeo.

Netflix announced their panel through a series of well-versed tweets between their and E3's Twitter accounts, hinting, alongside confirmation of their upcoming Stranger Things RPG game, due to arrive on July 4th, that 'there's definitely more to come!'.

There was also Bandersnatch, a standalone choose-your-own-adventure episode of the Black Mirror TV show that allowed viewers to interact with the story and make decisions for the main character, an aspiring programmer called Stefan Butler. The game will be made available then on PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices.

That's all entirely speculation on my part, but we're extremely curious to see what Netflix actually has in the works. Stay tuned for further updates.
