An out-of-control lift lurched through the air at a high-rise building in Oklahoma City, endangering two window washers who were inside it. One of the workers has a possible head injury, according to reports.
At 8:45 a.m., police were requested to evacuate the Myriad Gardens due to the incident, firefighters reported.
The lift could be seen swinging wildly at the top of the 50-storey tower - even hitting the sides of the building.
The Oklahoma City Fire Department has been called in to secure a large basket containing two window washers swinging at the top of Devon Tower.
Fire battalion chief Benny Fulkerson described the rescue effort as "tedious" but successful.
Two people, believed to be window washers, were on the lift when it became loose and started swinging out of control. This is a very risky situation. Roads in the area were cordoned off to protect people from potential hazards.
