Georgia Engel, star of ‘The Mary Tyler Moore Show,’ dies at 70

In this Tuesday, July 31, 2018, file photo, actress Georgia Engel answers a question during a panel discussion on the PBS special "Betty White: First Lady of Television".

Georgia's most recently Broadway role was as Mrs. Tottendale in the original production of The Drowsy Chaperone.

The beloved TV actress, who portrayed Georgette Franklin Baxter on the hit comedy show, passed away on Friday in Princeton, New Jersey. Georgette would go on to marry Ted, and Engel earned a pair of Emmy nominations in the role.

Engel's final credited television appearance came previous year in the Netflix series One Day at a Time.

Engel, who joined the show in 1972, was nominated twice for an Emmy for her work on the legendary TV show.

Miss Engel also appeared in made for television movies as well as big screen features including Grown Ups 2, Open Season, The Sweetest Thing, and Doctor Doolittle 2.
