Bears signing former Packers S Ha Ha Clinton-Dix to 1-year deal

Star safeties like Landon Collins and Tyrann Mathieu signed on the first day, while Earl Thomas needed just one extra day to make his decision.

Days after a former Bears safety became a Packer, a former Packers safety became a Bear. The Bears are adding safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix in free agency, NFL Network reported on Thursday afternoon. Clinton-Dix was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2016.

The Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears have pulled off a safety swap of sorts this offseason.

Now, Clinton-Dix will join his second new team in the span of six months.

When the Bears lost two four-year starters in their secondary and replaced them with veteran free agents in Ha Ha Clinton-Dix and Buster Skrine this week, there remained one big unknown: What does Chuck Pagano think? Clinton-Dix and Jackson will now form one of the most formidable safety duos in the National Football League, playing behind a fearsome front seven that already includes Khalil Mack and Akiem Hicks.

Clinton-Dix spent just nine games with the Redskins following a major trade deadline move, acquiring him from the Green Bay Packers. Playing safety against Aaron Rodgers in practice every day for over four years should certainly help, too.

The Ha Ha Clinton-Dix experiment for the Washington Redskins is over.
