CBS4)- Former Broncos tight end Matt LaCosse is heading to New England. The 27-year-old spent his first three years in the league with the Packers before spending the last two in NY. The terms of his deal were not disclosed.
Pennel is the second former Jet to be picked up by the Patriots Thursday.
LaCosse reportedly took a free-agent visit to New England on Thursday and signed on the spot, as did wide receivers Bruce Ellington and Maurice Harris. Prior stints with the Jets and Giants that led to his year-plus in Denver once Broncos signed him off the Giants' practice squad in December 2017.
With LaCosse leaving and Jeff Heuerman also a free agent, Denver is thin at tight end.
Pennel, 27, had 27 tackles with a pass defended last season with the Jets. LaCosse is 6-foot-6, 255 pounds, so he can help in the blocking game as well.
The Patriots have been active on the second official day of National Football League free agency, and they have added a former Jet in an attempt to bolster their defensive line.
