What the public didn't know is that at this time Meghan Markle reportedly penned her dad a long, emotional letter telling him she was "heartbroken", that she loved him and she wanted to end their rift in private.
In the letter the duchess pleaded with him to stop "lying" to the press writing, "If you love me, as you tell the press you do, please stop".
"Daddy, it is with a heavy heart that I write this, not understanding why you have chosen to take this path, turning a blind eye to the pain you are causing", the letter read, in extracts obtained by The Daily Mail. She also reveals her disappointment about him siding with her half-sister Samantha, who had previously attacked her in the press, while she had silently suffered at the "hand of her vicious lies".
'My name has never legally been Grant so chew on that for awhile. "Markle is my maiden name.I had it since 1964".
Meghan Markle's alleged letter to her father, Thomas, following her wedding has been revealed.
"Your actions have broken my heart into a million pieces", the duchess wrote to her father..
Meghan's long-running family row took another turn last week after five of the duchess's friends spoke out to defend her in an extraordinary interview with USA magazine People.
Meghan's bombshell five-page letter, sent in August previous year, lays bare the true depths of the Duchess's estrangement from her father.
Referring to Meghan's half-sister and her half-brother Thomas Markle Jr, one of the duchess's unnamed friends said: "They have been made to appear as siblings who had this falling out, and that's not the truth at all". 'She cried when she found out about it. "Yes we chose to keep it a secret, and then that way.it's one of those things, like, no matter what it is, it's still going to be a surprise". She and Samantha never had a very good relationship and she feels her sister is using her position for profit'.
