New Zealand has been left off an Ikea map

IKEA's $US29 BJORKSTA world map is missing New Zealand.

He posted the picture of the map to sub-Reddit MapsWithoutNZ, a forum dedicated to collating the frequent instances where the country is omitted by careless cartographers.

So far, Ikea Australia has referred New Zealand media outlets to Swedish headquarters for comment.

It also isn't even the first Ikea map to make the mistake as the country is missing from a wall decal map in some shops, though elsewhere it appears to be included.

An eagle-eyed Reddit user spotted that the shop is now selling a map with a blank space where the country should be.

"Hopefully Ikea won't be using their own map to find us when they open their first store in New Zealand", wrote one person on Twitter.

The map is sold online in U.S. and Australian stores.

Online, the product is sold in USA and Australian stores.

IKEA has since apologised for the incorrect world map print and has pledged to amend it.

"IKEA is responsible for securing correct and compliant motifs on all our products", the statement said.

Last year New Zealand's Prime Minister Jacinta Ardern teamed up with Flight of the Conchords' Rhys Darby on a campaign to rectify the absence of the country on so many world maps.

"We can see that the process has failed regarding the product BJÖRKSTA world map - we regret this mistake and apologise".

That's right, New Zealand is completely missing from this map by Ikea. We will take necessary actions and the product is now being phased out from our stores.

Last year, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern made a amusing appeal for the country to appear on world maps, and Kiwis pictured a number of maps that lacked New Zealand.
