Miami Dolphins Have Already Decided To Tank The 2019 Season

Fans of the Dolphins should give Brian Flores a chance to prove himself

The person confirmed the decision to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the Dolphins weren't commenting publicly about the status of the search. The Dolphins are allowed to negotiate a deal with Flores' agent, and they are confident that the Patriots' linebackers coach will accept their offer. But a marquee hiring like Schiano could mean a similar role, as Flores was titled a positional coach while calling plays this past season after Matt Patricia left for Detroit.

A year ago when Flores interviewed for the Cardinals head-coaching job, ESPN's Adam Schefter said Flores would have liked to bring Caldwell in as his offensive coordinator.

So far, Belichick's time in New England has produced six head coaches. The Dolphins have been also-rans to the first-place Patriots in the AFC East 15 of the past 16 years. It appears Caldwell will be the team's offensive coordinator, but that is now unknown. Some sources believe that Dolphins owner Stephen Ross also was impressed with New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator Dennis Allen. Shortly after the season, reports surfaced stating that the team was finally ready to move on from Ryan Tannehill as the quarterback of the franchise.

The 2018 campaign was a weird one for the Miami Dolphins, as they experienced some extreme highs, only to fall apart and end up 7-9 for the year and miss the playoffs.
