'Game of Thrones' final season to debut on April 14

Game of Thrones releases new season 8 teaser, official premiere date

‘Game of Thrones’ Season 8 Trailer Teases an Epic End, Reveals Premiere Date

Game of Thrones 8 is the final season of the superhit American fantasy drama.

On Friday, HBO teased the arrival of the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones, revealing that the season's trailer would arrive just ahead of Sunday's (January 13th) showing of True Detective.

After spending months teasing us with quick peeks, HBO has finally given us a proper glance at what's in store for the final season, which premieres in the United States on April 14.

Along with the premiere date, HBO also released an nearly 2-minute long teaser, "The Crypts of Winterfell".

In the long teaser, we see the three siblings Jon Snow, Sansa Stark and Arya Stark trying to find their way through the crypts of Winterfell.

Daenerys comes face to face with Sansa Stark in Winterfell. Technically, Jon's real name is Aegon Targaryen but he is a Stark by blood thanks to his mother Lyanna. Ned Stark's voice echoes, "You are a Stark".

The final season of Game of Thrones will screen in New Zealand at the same time it screens in the US. Maybe other teasers will show the rest of the characters standing in front of their own final resting places, playing into speculation of who's going to die.

This scene possibly foreshadows the deaths of the Stark Family, which is further backed up when the tomb becomes engulfed in ice and fog - heralding the arrival of the White Walkers and the Night King.
