With Kevin Hart stepping down from hosting duties of The Oscars ceremony in February, the event is now host-less. But that doesn't mean the evening will be without serious starpower, because the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences may be assembling The Avengers for an appearance.
The show will go on for the Oscars without a host for the first time in decades, according to a new report from Variety.
We've compiled a list of celebrities, comedians, and stars who have indicated they would take on the position if asked! (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner/The Hulk), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) and Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) together onstage. And the cast of The Avengers are The Oscars' number one choice.
Since 2012, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has added the likes of Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), Spider-Man (Tom Holland), Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), and The Wasp (Evangeline Lilly).
"I have made the choice to step down from hosting this year's Oscar's.this is because I do not want to be a distraction on a night that should be celebrated by so many unbelievable talented artists", he wrote on Twitter. And, with the Oscars set to air on the Disney-owned ABC, the hope is that the superhero team-up will also deliver a nice ratings boost for the network.
The 91st Oscars will air on February 24, 2019, and is being produced by Donna Gigliotti and co-produced and directed by Glenn Weiss.
