Marvel’s The Vision and Scarlet Witch finds a showrunner

The Hollywood Reporter says that Jac Schaeffer, one of the four screenwriters now credited on Captain Marvel, has been tapped to write the pilot and executive produce The Vision and Scarlet Witch, which is expected to star Paul Bettany and Elizabeth Olsen. Her ties to Disney and Marvel run deeper still, as she also co-wrote the script for the Frozen short Olaf's Frozen Adventure.

The Hollywood Reporter first reported on the new development, which was then later confirmed by Deadline.

Scarlet Witch and Vision were last seen in last summer's blockbuster Avengers: Infinity War, though the duo parted on rather depressing terms.

Plus, both characters died in Avengers: Infinity War, which would give the show a more limited shelf life.

Other heroes receiving their own personal TV shows on Disney+ include Loki; and Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), who will team up in a joint series to be written by Malcolm Spellman (Empire).

The idea of a Scarlet Witch series-eventually morphing into the double-billed Vision and Scarlet Witch-was announced back in September as part of Disney+'s aggressive strategy to become the most stacked streaming service on the market.

Disney+ will be released in late 2019.
