Today, the theatrical trailer for Maari 2 is released, and one can't help but feel that the decision to go with a sequel may have been right. And this time, Dhanush has Sai Pallavi, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar and Tovino Thomas along with him to entertain fans and end the year on a high note, a glimpse of which we saw in the Maari 2 trailer.
We also learn from the trailer that Arathu Anandhi (Sai Pallavi), who is an auto driver, harbours love for Maari and as the trailer progresses we can see that the two get married. That's when we are introduced to Tovino's character, Beeja.
The movie promises to have many whistle worthy dialogues and moments, for instance when Death tries to scare Maari, the latter replies back saying "if you are bad, I am your dad".
According to what we could gather from the trailer, Maari had been lying low living a different life for eight years.
The film is produced by Dhanush's Wunderbar Films Private Limited and directed by Balaji Mohan. Maari's popular dialogue "Senjiruven" is the cherry on the icing. The video is a slideshow of pictures that show Dhanush and Sai Pallavi dancing.
The movie has been shot in both Telugu and Tamil and will simultaneously release in both the languages. On Tuesday, the makers revealed that Maari 2 will hit the screens worldwide on December 21 and the announcement was made via a special poster. Meanwhile, Vijay Sethupathi's Seethakathi is slated to release on December 20, whereas Vishnu Vishal's "Silukkuvarpatti Singam" and Jayam Ravi's "Adangamaru" are scheduled to release on December 21.
