Josh McDaniels early favorite to be Packers’ next head coach

Packers must be wary of Josh McDaniels as head coach candidate

Packers fire Moss after tweet on coach search

Moss had been a coach under Mike McCarthy during the former head coach's entire Packers tenure.

The Green Bay Packers chose to part ways with top assistant coach Winston Moss on Tuesday, hours after Moss sent out a tweet many perceived to be critical of quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the team's coaching staff. And another advantage, quite honestly, of making the change now rather than after the season is this gives us an opportunity to see Joe as our head coach for four games, see how the team responds and see how the coaches and others respond.

McDaniels last served as an National Football League head coach when he left his first stint as Patriots offensive coordinator to coach the Denver Broncos from 2009-2010.

Tuesday night, the Green Bay Packers announced they "parted ways" with Moss, who was also linebackers coach. That list should only grow in the coming weeks and months. We try to stay in the moment and focus on the task at hand, which this week is obviously considerable considering that we haven't had a lot of success down there. I didn't do almost well enough in my role and my job previous year when we went down there to Miami, so there's a lot for us to look at and a great defense for us to go there and face where they play extremely well at home.

"If that's in the cards for me, then that's great, " he said.

These odds for McDaniels come shortly after he voiced that he has a strong interest in getting another shot at becoming a head coach in the NFL. "But again, I'm not anxious about that right now".

After a move like that, could a team really feel comfortable about potentially hiring McDaniels without worrying that he might once again choose his loyalty to Belichick over running his own team?
