After having converted to Islam, Sinead O'Connor no longer wants to be around any white people - whom she called "disgusting" and seemed to think include all non-Muslims.
She closed out by saying that "If it's insane to care... by all means, spank my ass and call me Fruity loops".
The controversial 51-year-old singer also apologized for her apparent racism in the same tweet, acknowledging that her desire never to associate with white people was "so racist I never thought my soul could ever feel it".
Shuhada' Davitt is yet to expand further on her comments, or address the criticism that they have generated.
A known critic of the Catholic Church, O'Connor also discussed the role of violence in religions such as Islam, Judaism and Christianity.
"There is no more talk of ancient violence in the Quran as the Tanukh, the Bible or The sodding (Mahabharata). And its [sic] ALL EQUALLY IRELLEVANT [sic] TO OUR TIMES", she wrote.
"Everyone says the Poor Americans are the victim of Trump". It is the same with all so called Islamic Terrorism. "Then by all means, spank my ass and call me Fruity loops", she wrote. All scripture study leads to Islam.
Twitter users were quick to respond to O'Connor's tweet, with some suggesting she was an example of "radicalism", while others schooled her on treating each person as an individual and not making blanket statements based on race.
O'Connor has said in the past that she struggles with mental health issues.
