She has grown significantly as an artist and writer between each release, taking more control over her sound than ever before - something that shines through on "Love Made Me Do It".
In the comeback record - her first track in four years - Cheryl Tweedy, 35, appears to call out her exes. "I think in my romantic area, I'm not as evolved", Cole admitted.
Cheryl Cole is back.
Cheryl revealed that her new music was actually written long before she split up with Liam and is about a metaphorical situation.
Speaking on singer Jessie Ware's podcast "Table Manners" she said her love life as "at the end" and that the only man she needs in her life is her baby. It's not about one specific person or relationship, it's more about me being the lover of love that I am. "When she started songwriting, she would send things she's done and I'd say, 'That's awesome, I'll have that.' And not long after I had Bear, I was like, 'I love this, I love that, so let's just do it'. I wasn't sat writing a love poem to anyone or about anybody".
She adamantly continued: "It's not happening anymore".
Yes, with the upcoming release of new music, Cheryl has returned to the spotlight and looking very different than before. The former X Factor judge then talked about how she refused to get any help with little Bear until he was 16 months old, because otherwise it would have felt unnatural.
Cheryl explained: "I needed it for my sanity".
She also spoke of her battle with malaria in 2010 and added: "I had to slow down for my sanity - I just had enough of the cycle".
"I could be doing something I hate doing and feel the same way, so why am I like putting myself through this?" I honestly didn't know how much I needed it until I did it.
Cheryl will be performing on night two of the Jingle Bell Ball with Coca-Cola on 9 December, and as well as unleashing new tunes on the crowd, she's promised some throwbacks.
"She's written for me in the past", she said.
