Final Fantasy XV 'Episode Ardyn' DLC Gets Short Prequel Anime

Of four planned DLC episodes, only Ardyn remains in development and will be released in March 2019, while Aranea, Lunafreye and Noctis have all been cancelled.

"In regards to my next endeavours and near future, I have a project that I truly wish to solidify as my next challenge after Final Fantasy XV", Tabata's statement read.

Final Fantasy XV producer Yuji Shinoda and Final Fantasy XV "Episode Ardyn" DLC director Takefumi Terada announced in a "special program" on Thursday that Square Enix is producing an anime short based on the "Episode Ardyn" DLC, titled "Final Fantasy XV Episode Ardyn - Prologue".

Those looking to adventure further in Square Enix's Final Fantasy XV universe will likely be disappointed to hear that 3 of the 4 upcoming content add-ons for the game have been cancelled.

Final Fantasy XV game director Hajime Tabata has left the company, Square Enix announced today. "The main goal of establishing Luminous Productions was to create a studio that can deliver a completely new AAA title to the global market".

Ofuji stated that the reason for the cancellation was due to Square Enix deciding to focus its efforts in the production of a new "AAA" title, with development headed by its new subsidiary studio Luminous Productions.

While the previously announced modding tools and Steam Workshop support have already been added, it's unclear whether the level editor is also forthcoming. You can check out a new trailer for the game down below. There will also be a Final Fantasy XV collaboration with Final Fantasy XIV, set to launch on the same day.

The Final Fantasy XV stream continued with additional announcements to celebrate the two-year anniversary of the game, including Final Fantasy XV: Comrades being released as a standalone game that does not require the main game to play, coming December 12, 2018.
