That's the belief of former Chelsea keeper Mark Schwarzer, who thinks Pogba and Sanchez are being stifled due to their defensive responsibilities under Jose Mourinho.

Antonio Rudiger's first-half goal had been an emblem of the domination as Paul Pogba left the Germany global unchallenged to head home from an easy chance as his side were cruising.

Two weeks after his United team overturned a 2-0 deficit to beat Newcastle 3-2 at Old Trafford - a result which may have saved his job - his players nearly performed a similar trick at Chelsea and Mourinho was central to that with his tactics and motivation.

Mourinho was clearly provoked by the fist-pumping manner in which Marco Ianni, from Chelsea's coaching staff, celebrated Ross Barkley's late equaliser directly in front of him and, until the stewards intervened, the Manchester United manager looked like he would happily throttle his antagonist.

Wild scenes at Stamford Bridge. This result, despite dropping two points, was a big step in the right direction.

It ended with Mourinho involved in scuffles with one of Sarri's staff but both coaches sought to diffuse the row, with Mourinho saying he had accepted an apology and Sarri saying he had also admonished the staff member. Morata, in particular, showed why Maurizio Sarri was interested in setting up a reunion with Gonzalo Higuain over the summer despite him sadly falling out of Chelsea's transfer policy due to being over 30.

This is the reality that Mourinho must accept.

"At this period of the season, one point more or one point less is the same, I want to play every match for three points", Sarri told reporters after the game, via the Express. "What I call the Chelsea "triggers", we controlled them and the reality is we conceded two goals in set pieces not organised play", he said. I understood that we were in the wrong side of the situation. "We work on the pitch, the analysis, the preparation", said Mourinho.

"In the second half we dropped more, we let them have more possession and we made some silly mistakes so they got some counter-attacks".

Nevertheless, that was a phenomenal game for the Frenchman, who put both Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford to shame by finding the net twice in a hard game - something the other two have been struggling to do at the best of times at United. I don't want the long ball, I don't want the second ball. However, ultimately, I am disappointed. We deserved to win but we shipped the goal in the last minute and it cost us'.

"I think they're a near miss, I think they're one player away". I don't want to go for the second ball.
