Samsung officially confirms Galaxy Book 2 specs, price and release date

Samsung Galaxy A7

Samsung's First Triple Lens Smartphone Starts Selling in Kenya

The previous Galaxy Book was based around Intel's 7th-gen Core m3 and Core i5 processors (Kaby Lake) and the natural competitor for this new model remains Microsoft's Surface Pro 6.

Responding to questions from MyBroadband, Samsung South Africa confirmed that the Galaxy A9 would be available locally in December 2018 for a recommended retail price of R11,999.

As the latest member of the "Always Connected" PC ranks, the Galaxy Book 2 runs Windows 10 S out of the box, although users can upgrade to the full-fat version of Microsoft's OS. Samsung is also shipping the device with a keyboard and S Pen in the box.

The Galaxy Book 2 brings a 12-inch FHD+ (2160x1440) sAMOLED display and twin speakers tuned by AKG with Dolby Atmos support.

Samsung and Qualcomm promise a battery life of up to 20 hours from the tablet.

Elsewhere, the 2-in-1 packs 4GB of RAM, 128GB of built-in storage expandable via microSD, two USB-C ports, a 3.5mm headphone jack and support for Samsung's S-Pen stylus. Only 4GB of RAM is a bit suspect on a 2-in-1, especially considering some of today's flagship smartphones have twice as much memory. Samsung is introducing a new contestant - the Galaxy Book 2 - at a NY event today. Now, the Galaxy Book 2 has gotten in line with the overwhelming majority in its design.

Again, we'll have to wait for United Kingdom information but in the U.S. you can buy the device online at AT&T, Microsoft and Samsung from the above release date. Wireless connectivity options include Gigabit LTE via the Snapdragon X20 LTE modem and 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band Wi-Fi. According to Samsung, the Galaxy A7 is meant to make everyday convenient and extraordinary. Samsung clearly sees the benefit with this type of a device and is announcing the Galaxy Book2. The device also gets an 8MP rear camera and 5MP front-facing camera for video chats.
