Davis shines as Pelicans rout Rockets in season opener

Will Carmelo Anthony's impact on the offensive end override the losses of defensive-minded forwards Trevor Ariza and Luc Mbah a Moute?

Pelicans guard Nikola Mirotic recaps his performance during tonight's regular season opener against the Houston Rockets. The Rockets are his fifth team in six National Basketball Association seasons and his fourth team in the last four.

At last season's Thunder media day, Anthony laughed off the notion that he would consider a reserve role for the first time in his career. The Warriors will be the heavy favorites to win their third straight National Basketball Association championship - and fourth in the last five seasons - but that doesn't mean they won't be challenged.

Davis had recorded seven assists in a game two other times in his National Basketball Association career, including once in January 2016 and once in March 2015.

"I am just taking what defense gives me", said Davis. He also made 8 assists. The team only shot 25 percent from the three-point line. Last Western Conference finals saw them miss an National Basketball Association record 27 straight three-point attempts in their heartbreaking Game 7 loss to the Warriors.

Watch Here " Kushner: Biggest takeaway from Pelicans' big win vs. Rockets? Watching intently from the sideline was Anthony Davis. If this proves the same this season, then Nikola Mirotic or Julius Randle must look to be aggressive on offense down low.

"We made the most of our opportunities". New Orleans led 71-54 at the break and led by as much as 29 points in the second half.

"My focus level when it comes to playing basketball and working and trying to win a championship is at a high level", Anthony said. Now as Harden gets ready for the last season of his 20s and his tenth in the National Basketball Association is there another part of his game he can improve? Can he get to the free throw line even more?

Paul and Harden erased any doubts that they would play well together by working brilliantly in their first season as teammates previous year.

Pelicans fans have plenty to be excited about this season, especially thanks to a new core which features a nice mixture of talented big men, outside shooting and strong passers.

As for the opponent, it is an early test for the Pelicans. "I can only see what's in front of me right now.it's about right now and what I need to do to be the best player for the Raptors".
