The latest media to take umbrage with the profitable pairing was HBO's Last Week Tonight With John Oliver, who ran a scathing montage full of WWE superstars (including John Cena) praising the Saudi government during the Greatest Royal Rumble event. There has been a ton of controversy around the event, however.
Khashoggi, a journalist who has been critical of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, disappeared after entering the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul on October 2.
The big question that many fans have heading into tonight's episode of Monday Night Raw is whether or not the company are going to address the uncertainty surrounding the upcoming WWE Crown Jewel pay per view.
"I'd hope that they would be rethinking their relationship with the kingdom, especially with respect to events coming up in the next weeks like [WWE Crown Jewel]", Senator Murphy (D-CT) said. "And audiences around the world were treated to wall-to-wall propaganda about the new Saudi Arabia, including a video showing women happily driving, men dancing, and tourist destination beauty shots, as well as constant excited announcements throughout the broadcast".
"I haven't talked to everybody on the WWE roster but I can tell you that a lot of the people that are scheduled to go to Saudi Arabia; they don't want to go to Saudi Arabia", said Alvarez.
