I'm still not fully sold on the live-action aspect, but if anyone has the budget to pull it off, it's surely Disney.
Smith previously shared the first photo of the cast but until now nothing else but that poster had been revealed. And given what we can see in this new trailer up above, it looks like the Mouse House is about to open up a whole new world. But of the many, many titles they have planned, the one that had always been the most contentious was Aladdin.
Some fans were ecstatic to hear the news. Unfortunately, Will Smith doesn't appear as the Genie at all in this trailer, but no doubt we'll get to see him soon.
The live-action Aladdin is based on the 1992 animated movie featuring Robin Williams as the voice of Genie. Just underneath, there's a tagline that reads, "Choose wisely". He captioned the post as, "LEMME OUT!??"
Opening May 24th 2019, Aladdin will be followed by another live-action Disney remake in July the same year as Jon Favreau is set to unleash Lion King. People love Aladdin, and while I'm sure there will be some additions and some alterations, overall the new movie will likely bear a strong resemblance to the animated original. It stars Will Smith as the Genie, Mena Massoud (Jack Ryan) as Aladdin, Naomi Scott (Power Rangers) as Princess Jasmine, and Marwan Kenzari (The Mummy) as Jafar.
