Starting at $1,899, the Blade 15 is not exactly cheap.
A new base model will start shipping in November, that shares the "advanced" version's lightweight aluminum frame, but differs with a Chrome LED keyboard that still has in-game lighting effects, but drops the ability to control different areas separately. Razer isn't gimping the hardware for the new price point, either.
The new parts include an Ethernet port for hardwired internet connections as well as a new dual storage drive option, which allows you to configure the Razer Blade with both an M.2 solid state drive (SSD) and a 2.5-inch hard drive (HDD).
If you couldn't tell from its name, the Razer Blade 15 Dual Storage edition comes with two drives, a smaller SSD for performance and a larger hard drive for capacity.
Although the new dual-storage model is a little thicker, it actually weighs a little less than the single-storage version, but you'll still get up to six hours of battery life.
In terms of specs, the dual-storage model comes with a 15.6-inch HD screen at 60Hz, an eighth-generation Intel Core i7-8750H processor, and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 Max-Q graphics card. You do have to pay for the privilege of the new design though, with even the cheapest costing as much as $2,200.
There's a new color option, too. It swaps the black and green combo of the regular Blade 15 for a striking white paint job with black ports and no light up logo on the lid. This one carries a more premium price tag though, to reflect a burlier collection of hardware. If you spend $2,600 you get a GTX 1070 Max Q GPU with 512GB of storage and a 144Hz display, but it is limited to 1080P resolution.
"With the Razer Blade 15 we created the world's smallest 15.6-inch gaming laptop and set a new precedent for the ideal mobile gaming experience". And, for fans of the single storage model, there's a Razer store exclusive Mercury White edition coming later this year.
The new dual-storage models are available now in the US, Canada, and China, and will ship in several European and Asia-Pacific countries next month.
