Bill Cosby feels ‘under attack’ after his 1st night in prison

Cosby will occupy one of the facility's 3,830 beds. Under prison policy, the 81-year-old comedian will be allowed phone calls and visits and will get a chance to exercise. He did, however, express concern for Cosby's well-being, saying the disgraced comedian should be placed in protective custody, otherwise he could be attacked. He could eventually be sent to a state prison that has separate units for geriatric prisoners and programs for sex offenders.

Corrections Secretary John Wetzel has described it as a "21st century institution with advanced security features, environmentally efficient infrastructure and modern work and housing spaces".

His legal team has already filled an appeal of the trial. "He knows that these are lies", Andrew Wyatt said outside the courthouse in Norristown, Pennsylvania, where Montgomery County Common Pleas Judge Steven O'Neill had laid down the sentence.

Some 60 women in total have accused "America's Dad" of sexual misconduct, many with stories similar to Constand's. His wife, Camille Cosby, was not present.

-Nationally, more than four times as many prisoners age 55 or older were admitted to state prisons in 2013 (25,700) than in 1993 (6,300), according to the Bureau of Justice Statistics.

"For decades, the defendant has been able to hide his true self and hide his crimes using his fame and fortune", said Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele.

A judge on September 25 declared Cosby a "sexually violent predator" just before he was sentenced.

The salary range for inmates within this sector of the industrial prison complex range between 19 to 45 cents per hour, a far cry from his combine bi-annual salary of $86 million in 1986 and 1987, at the height of the Cosby Show and his stand-up run. Or that time he delivered the sermon on the mount, where he threatened dozens of women into staying silent about sexual assault?

Cosby was found guilty in April of drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand in 2004.
