Swedish football icon Zlatan Ibrahimovic netted his 500th career goal in football on Saturday for LA Galaxy against Toronto FC - and it has to be seen to be believed.

Escaping the attention of his marker, the former Manchester United striker volleyed home Jonathan Santos' chipped pass with a roundhouse kick.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been a source of some truly spectacular goals while playing in Europe.

That goal seemed to inspire the Galaxy as they completed a remarkable turn around to pull level at 3-3 midway through the second half, although Toronto regained the lead.

Ibrahimovic's first goal for the Galaxy was a 40 yard wonder strike that made the score 3-3 in the Los Angeles derby, following that up with a 90th minute victor in his debut match.

His tally of club goals now stands at 438 including strikes for Malmo, Ajax, Juventus, Inter, Barcelona, PSG, AC Milan and Manchester United.

Speaking afterwards, Sweden's all-time leading scorer with 62 goals told reporters: "I am happy for Toronto because they will be remembered as my 500th victim". Since then, the former Swedish global has scored 17 goals for the MLS side in 22 appearances.

Ibrahimovic, 36, joined the Galaxy at the start of the 2018 season and now has 17 goals in 21 appearances for LA. It reminds me of a goal I did in Ajax.
