Nintendo just took to Twitter to reveal that their paid online service for Nintendo Switch will launch in late September. When the service launches, online multiplayer in games will be locked behind the subscription. One such detail is Switch Online's release date, as thus far, Nintendo has only said that the service will launch in September. 3, The Legend of Zelda, Dr. Mario and several others - 20 in total at launch. Nintendo says that an actual, final release date will be announced as we get closer to launch, but the company better get to work in deciding on one because we're closing in on that deadline quickly.
Subscribers will also be able to use Nintendo Switch mobile app features to "enhance their online experience" and receive special offers. Extras that have been confirmed to include online play, cloud back-ups and save files for compatible games, and access to classic NES games with new online feature.
For anyone who enjoys playing certain Switch games online, a subscription will also be required for some games. The plans start at $4 United States dollars a month and users can also purchase a three month subscription for $8, or the most discounted rate of $20 for a full year.
