Everton manager Marco Silva is hoping to land Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma in a bid to solve his side's defensive lapses before his side's Premier League opener against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.
In case you didn't know..
Zouma arrived at Chelsea in 2014, with a lot of excitement around his talent.
Everton have been one of the busiest clubs on the Premier League's transfer deadline day and have already signed Yerry Mina, Andres Gomes and Bernard on last minute deals. Manchester United need a defensive upgrade on the likes of Chris Smalling and Phil Jones and Zouma is certainly that.
Chelsea, however, do not appear too keen to sell to an immediate rival and it remains to be seen how the deal moves forward.
Zouma spent previous year on loan at Stoke, who were relegated after finishing 19th, but his path to the first team at Chelsea looks hard due to the presence of Antonio Rudiger, David Luiz, Andreas Christensen and Gary Cahill.
The Mirror believe Everton submitted a deal sheet that could go allow them to sign the France worldwide, despite the deal going beyond the 5pm deadline for Premier League clubs. Mourinho has signed only three players this summer - Fred, Diogo Dalot and Lee Grant - and if this deal goes through, it appears he finally has reason to smile.
