Emery wants Arsenal to play on the front foot

Michael Owen looks on prior to the UEFA Europa League Group A match between Feyenoord and Manchester United FC at Feijenoord Stadion

Carragher: New Arsenal boss Emery compared to Rafa Benitez

With Arsenal to host reigning Premier League champions Manchester City in the season opener on Sunday, Emery could be in for a baptism of fire.

Emery wants to create an environment where the whole club performs as one, that means goalkeepers thinking about attacking then the team has the ball and attackers thinking about defending when the opposition is in possession.

Speaking in an interview with BBC Sport, Wright said: "They start against a City team who know exactly what they are doing, but this might be a good time to play them because some of their players are late back from the World Cup".

Arsenal kick-off their new season by welcoming Manchester City.

"His experience here in Arsenal, in the Premier League, is very important to give us his information, his performances and his quality".

In artistic terms Arsenal's players have swapped expressionism for painting by numbers.

"I want the team to show that we are together with our supporters, and I want the team to show everybody their best performance".

"Today, we had a meeting with the players to close all the possibilities to leave or come with more players", Emery said.

"We have three players Carl Jenkinson, David Ospina and Joel Campbell who have the possibility to leave, but the other players they are with us".

And the former Paris Saint-Germain and Sevilla coach has stressed the importance of Arsenal being on the front foot.

The Colombian worldwide will also likely leave the club as Unai Emery says because he has played as a back up for Petr Cech for the last three years and the gunners signing Bernd Leno clearly showed that the gunners don't have trust in him anymore. Also, I think that it's a big and great match that we can play to start this season. He makes it hard for teams to play against them and will play 4-2-3-1.

It will be interesting to see who Emery opts for in goal between Leno and Petr Cech but Sokratis is nearly certain to start on Sunday while Torreira will be a starter if he's deemed match fit after arriving back late to pre-season following the World Cup.
