Gustin reminded everyone the leaked photo was one he wasn't aware was being taken, and that it was a photo of a suit that was still being tweaked to be just right for the new season.
The Jurassic World actor, who would share his snack of the day on social media, took on shamers by calling them out in a amusing message. "Grant Gustin doesn't have a superhero chin or physique". "We'll get there", he wrote, addressing the leaked pic and costume.
The Flash star took to his Instagram account and responded to critics who slammed him for being "too thin" after a photo leaked online showing him testing out an early version of a new suit Barry Allen's alterego will be wearing for the superhero's upcoming fifth season on The CW.
"That's a bad photo that I was unaware was being taken, much less being posted, Some things need work and they will be worked on". It's a cool suit.
Gustin makes a very good point here about people needing to wait to see the full thing before making their minds up about the new suit. Garry Gustin was clearly not pleased with the leak but he was even more disappointed in the body shaming that came along with it. That is what pisses me off. "It's a bad photo that I was unaware was being taken, much less being posted. Not even just for my sake", he said. "But there's a double standard where it's ok to talk sh*t about a dudes body", he continued.
Adding that he does his "best to stay in shape", Grant said he is "naturally thin" and admitted "gaining weight is a challenge for me". "Other kids who are build like me and thinner than me should be able to feel the same way". I'm naturally thing, and my appetite is greatly affectd by stress. "Stress is something that ebbs and flows for me throughout a season".
The actor also pointed out that it is very hard for him to gain weight and made it very clear that skinnier men should not receive all of this criticism for the way they look, especially if they can't help it.
He added, "I love the suit that has been designed for me and I think everyone see it in its entirety will love it too".
