3rd Rock From The Sun actress Elmarie Wendel dies aged 89

Elmarie Wendel, who played landlady Mrs Dubcek in the U.S. comedy '3rd Rock From the Sun' has died at the age of 89.

On Sunday, July 22, Wendel's daughter, actress Jennifer "JC" Wendel, confirmed news of her mother's passing.

No cause of death was given. "JC uploaded to Instagram a photo of her mother with her 3rd Rock from the Sun castmates, writing in the caption, "#ripelmariewendel you were a great mom and a badass dame".

Elmaire soon nabbed the iconic role of Mrs Dubcek on 3rd Rock from the Sun.

In LA, she landed the role of Mrs. Dubcek, the Solomon family's landlady, NBC's hit sitcom 3rd Rock from the Sun.

Elmarie had a long history in show business.

Although Wendel found stardom in '90s, she had been acting since 1961. She had appeared in several of other shows throughout her career including Knight Rider, The Facts of Life, Seinfeld and NYPD Blue.

Elmarie is also known for voicing Aunt Grizelda in The Lorax as well as Gina Sorenstam in George Lopez.

As Beaver lovingly recalls of Wendel, "She was raucous, funny, endearing, and terribly, terribly sweet".

Wendel's performance as Mrs. Dubcek was just one part praised as a part of the cast of 3rd Rock From The Sun, the series which aired from 1996 until 2001.

Most recently, Elmarie appeared in 2014's The Exes as Ruthie in an episode entitled The Old Man and the Holly.

Elmarie came from humble beginnings, having been born in Iowa before traveling across the country with her musical parents and performing at various local concert halls.
