Those who pre-order Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will be able to participate in the Private Multiplayer Beta, which will begin first on PlayStation 4 from August 3-6.
So what modes will be available to play? (It's worth noting that PlayStation 4 owners will get access to the beta twice: once by themselves from August 3-6, and another time with Xbox players from August 10-13.) As for those playing Black Ops 4 on PC, they will have their own open beta take place beginning on August 11 and lasting until August 13. In September, players will be able to try out Call of Duty's new spin on battle royale, in the beta for a mode Activision and Treyarch are calling Blackout. Exclusive in-game rewards will be given to beta participants, and free unlocks will be awarded to players who reach max rank over the course of the beta.
Getting into the multiplayer beta on consoles require pre-ordering the shooter, and those on the PlayStation 4 get to jump in before everyone else.
As detailed by Activision, the Private Multiplayer Beta will offer six maps, two of which will be making their first appearance. Additionally, the beta will see a mix of new and returning Specialists, such as Nomad and Prophet. It will also offer a handful of modes to play, including fan favorites such as Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint, and Search & Destroy, as well as Black Ops 4's brand-new Control mode. The developer didn't yet announce an exact date for the Blackout beta, but it will likewise kick off first on PS4. More details for this private beta will be given later this Summer.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 hits PC, Xbox One, and PS4 on October 12.
