Kim Jong Un snubbed Mike Pompeo for potato farm visit, state media suggests

"They didn't give it, I have it for him", the president told reporters on Tuesday as he and the first lady departed for the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation summit in Brussels.

State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert told reporters in Tokyo on Saturday that the only thing Pompeo left behind in Pyongyang was a letter from Trump to Kim.

The United States' annual August military drills with South Korea canceled last month by order of President Donald Trump as his administration negotiates a halt to North Korea's nuclear program would have cost the Pentagon about $14 million, according to defense officials.

Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Mark Warner, D-Virginia, wrote to Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats on Thursday, asking him to answer a number of questions related to North Korea's progress, in light of statements made by President Trump and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

Regarding the suspension of the Ulchi exercise, Interior Minister Kim Boo-kyum said that the government reached the decision in consideration of the latest security climate and suspension of South Korea- US combined exercises. China's position on the Korean peninsula is consistent and clear.

The two sides did agree to eventually hold a summit in 2018.

On Weibo, China's twitter-like microblogging platform, one user asked "why is the USA - a country so far away - keeping an eye on the North Korea's denuclearization progress?"

When Secretary of State Mike Pompeo visited Pyongyang last weekend, he was supposed to have a one-on-one meeting with Kim Jong-un. "But, it seems that the USA misunderstood our goodwill and patience".

He praised officials of the county, which is close to Mount Paektu, the spiritual home of the Korean people and claimed by Pyongyang's propaganda to be the actual birthplace of his father and predecessor Kim Jong Il.

"Kim has played Trump like a Stradivarius".

Instead, North Korea appears as though it's conducting business as usual.

Trump told reporters Tuesday that he might have another gift for Kim as well.

On Monday, Trump addressed the dispute on Twitter.

The latter - a joint production between Britain, Belgium and the North - was earlier screened at the Toronto International Film Festival and the South's Busan International Film Festival to positive reviews.

Pompeo himself reportedly laughed when asked about the CD last week but did not confirm or deny the South Korean newspaper report.
