Rangers hopeful of signing Umar Sadiq before Europa League clash

The Malian is Gerrard's eight signing of the summer.

In a bid to add strength to his team next season, Glasgow Rangers' Manager, Steven Gerrard remains hopeful a deal to sign Nigerian striker Umar Sadiq can be completed soonest, reports.

"Rangers can today [Tuesday] announce the signing of Lassana Coulibaly on a season-long loan from French side Angers, subject to global clearance", read a statement on club website.

Having showcased his talents in his home country and impressed then at Serie B side Spezia, that earned him his move to Roma and an initial loan spell saw them tie him down to permanent terms. Coulibaly told Rangers TV. Even if the plan was to stay at Roma I couldn't turn him down.

Coulibaly may be followed through the entrance at Ibrox very soon with the club said to be confident of securing a season-long loan move for Roma forward Umar Sadiq.

"He (Gerrard) can help me to develop my football".

"Rangers is a good team, I'd heard the name before Gerrard came in here".

Gerrard remains in the market for further reinforcements this summer and a move for Mali global midfielder Lassana Coulibaly is still ongoing at present. "When they asked me if I want to join this team or not, I said yes but I thought it might not really be Gerrard!"

But with midfield signings being made at Angers across this summer, Coulibaly was going to find first team chances hard to come by, but at Rangers the Mali International will likely be heralded as one to watch throughout the campaign.
