Tonight (Wednesday) sees the England football team in its first World Cup semi-final in 28 years and Three Lions (Football's Coming Home) is sweeping the nation - again.

"The difference sadly is a set play in a very close and tight game", lamented Belgium boss Roberto Martinez.

His Instagram dig won't have made his task any easier.

These boys are writing their own history, unperturbed by the cruel and sadistic past that their predecessors have left behind. Gareth Southgate and his team have helped many fall back in love with the lovely game.

"This has been an incredible #WorldCup run and we've enjoyed every minute". It's going to be a hard task for all of us. The improvement and the hunger in the players is very clear for everyone to see.

"But we approached this tournament in the same way".

This victory however has not been of the players alone, it has been a triumph for their manager as well. I think they're playing brilliantly. They won the Under-17 World Cup, European Under-19 Championship and Under-20 World Cup in a historic 2017 summer.

Indeed. As the Duke noted, this is an impressively young English squad.

In the other four games, Croatia's only variable to its 4-2-3-1 formation was whether to start captain Luka Modric in a deep midfield role and Andrej Kramaric more advanced, or to move up Modric and start Marcelo Brozovic.

It feels like part and parcel of West Norfolk life but the Vancouver Quarter as we know it didn't exist as we know it until 2005 after a big redevelopment.

Yes England had luck to get to the semi-finals, but they got better as the tournament went on - yes they may rue this chance of getting to the World Cup final....but disappointment is the last thing anyone should take from this tournament.

The 1996 hit by The Lightning Seeds and Baddiel & Skinner is being played across the radio and roared on the streets, pubs and homes, with the line "it's coming home" being used conversationally everywhere.
