Zsa Zsa, the 'World's Ugliest Dog,' dies

The nine-year-old canine died in her sleep Tuesday morning, owner Megan Brainard of Anoka, Minnesota told United States media.

Zsa Zsa - who's namesake is Zsa Zsa Gabor - had entered the World's Ugliest Dog competition before, but 2018 was her year. She was purchased by a rescue group after spending the first five years of her life in a Missouri puppy mill.

A sad day in the world of dogs.

"I'm still in shock", she said.

Zsa Zsa, the world's ugliest dog, died just nine short days after winning the title, according to NBC's the Today Show. "It's probably going to be the same with her passing".

"She knew she was special", Brainard told TODAY. "We were all saying our goodbyes".

Then her fortune charges on June 23, when she and Brainard won $1,500, "a very large trophy" and a flight to NY to appear on "Today". Brainard named the sweet, lovable pup after the Hollywood legend Zsa Zsa Gabor, because the pretty pooch enjoyed lounging on the couch "like a attractive model".

The recently-crowned World's Ugliest Dog has died. "She never really showed much excitement, but yes, she was definitely living it up after she won", her owner said.

Brainard said she named the pooch after Hungarian actress Zsa Zsa Gabor because she liked to lie on the couch "like a lovely model".

She was known for her underbite and muscular, rounded front legs.
