Sharif, daughter will be arrested at any Pakistan airport: Minister

Pak Authorities Arrest Nawaz Sharif's Son-In-Law Over Corruption Charges

‘Sharif, Maryam will be arrested on their arrival’

While they will not face any difficulty in coming to Pakistan, they are expected to be arrested during the immigration process at the airport as per standard procedure for all those placed on the ECL, Geo TV reported. Pakistan's anti-corruption National Accountability Bureau (NAB) said in a statement that Muhammad Safdar handed himself in.

Mushahidullah Khan, a senator with Sharif's Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz party, said that "workers from all across the country will reach the airport to welcome their leader" when Sharif lands in Pakistan.

Normally Sunday remains calm in Rawalpindi. The PML-N media cell today shared an audio recording of Safdar saying he would surrender to authorities today on the directives of the party leadership. As the rally ended at the election office of Hanif Abbasi, the NAB team finally arrested him. The officials also arranged medical check-up of the convict and kept him in a NAB's lockup. The goal of a PML-N gathering on their return is to welcome their leader and his daughter and that they will remain peaceful.

Mr Sharif has said that he is not afraid of going to jail.

PML-N is contesting elections with election slogan of Vote ko izzat do-Khidmat Ko Vote Do (Respect to the vote and Vote for services).

NAB reacted strongly to the PML-N show that caused a four-hour delay in the convict's arrest. Persons put on the ECL are prohibited from leaving Pakistan. "On the announcement of the Sharif family that Nawaz and Maryam are arriving in Lahore on Friday at 6.15 pm we have written to the Punjab government to coordinate with NAB for their arrest at the airport", a NAB official told PTI on Monday. NAB also asked Pemra to provide footage of the rally to ascertain the identity of the culprits.

The court has declared that Nawaz Sharif and Maryam will be arrested upon their arrival in Pakistan.
