And what if, just what if, a little bit of Leon were to slip in to Far From Home?
Directed by Jon Watts, Spider-Man: Far From Home stars Tom Holland and Marisa Tomei. But who is he playing?
Deadline is reporting that J.B. Smoove (Curb Your Enthusiasm) will be joining the cast of the Sony Pictures sequel Spider-Man: Far From Home. The outlet noted, "It is now unclear what role Smoove will be playing in the superhero follow-up".
Along with the the returning actors and actresses we also have Jake Gyllenhall who is expected to play the role of the villain Mysterio. The Bugle has not been a factor in this iteration of Peter Parker's life, but this could be a way for Marvel and Sony to introduce the idea of Peter becoming a photojournalist. The follow-up will feature Tom Holland's Peter Parker in his Junior year at Midtown School of Science and Technology following the events of 2018's Avengers: Infinity War and its summer 2019 sequel, which will also feature Holland as Spider-Man. He was recently in Lionsgate's Uncle Drew but is also known for his roles in films like Hall Pass, Mr. Deeds and Date Night. Spider-Man: Homecoming did a great job of collecting talented comedians in very small roles. I expect Smoove's role to be of a similar caliber in this sequel: big enough for him to make an impression in the moment, but probably not big enough to spark much conversation after the credits roll.
Filming for Spider-Man: Far From Home has officially begun, with set photos from the United Kingdom location surfacing online. Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal are producing.
