George Clooney HOSPITALISED after shock motorbike crash

George Clooney was taken to hospital for treatment after a motorcycle accident in Sardinia, Italian media has reported.

The 57-year-old Academy Award victor was traveling on a state road in Costa Corallina, a province of Olbia, when the crash occurred, TGCOM24 reported.

Immediately after the crash, Clooney was transported to a nearby hospital.

The 57-year-old has been taken to hospital but is understood not to be seriously injured.

Clooney is now filming his new TV series "Catch 22" on the island, which also features Hugh Laurie and Austin Stowell ("Whiplash").

A photo published on La Nuova Sardegna website shows a black scooter on one side of the road, with a dark blue estate vehicle facing the other way, at an angle across the central reserve.

According to a Sassari town hall official, the Ocean's 11 actor had no serious injuries, but had sustained a minor knee injury and has since been discharged from hospital.

This is a developing story and will be updated when more information becomes available.

The couple had previously been enjoying their European trip alongside George's parents Nina and Nick Clooney, as well as Amal's mother Baria Alamuddin.

Clooney has a home on Lake Como, which is on the Italian mainland.
