Complaints peaked early in the day, but Comcast outages continued popping up well into the afternoon.
Comcast says it's experiencing a major service outage Friday after a networking partner suffered a cut in its fiber. "Our engineers worked to address the issue immediately and services are now being restored to business and residential internet, video and voice customers". Others are telling Comcast to unplug for 30 seconds and then plug back in, a common solution for when internet service goes out at home. It's likely that the kind of secure connection that matchmaking requires on both systems isn't working through Comcast's network at the moment.
Customers took to social media to let their voice be heard.
In company statistics released March 2018, the number of Xfinity home customers was 1.79 million. Near 400 reports in the last two weeks come from the District of Columbia alone, followed by 295 reports in Philadelphia.
The outage is primarily affecting Comcast cable service, but telephone and internet services are also affected in many places in Virginia.
