Earlier, South Korea's Presidential Blue House said it needed "to find out the precise meaning or intentions" of Mr Trump's statement.

"Honestly, I think he will do these things", said Trump, who seemed buoyed by the meeting and attention.

This is not the first time Trump has made references to Kim's weight.

I thought it was well done, I showed it to you because that's the future, I mean, that could very well be the future. "Really, very positive, I think better than anybody could have expected". Following the summit, China's foreign ministry suggested the global community consider lifting sanctions on North Korea. There was not even a pledge that either side "shall" take action; just the assertion that North Korea will "commit to working towards" denuclearisation, which it sees as a general, not unilateral, process. He said Iran views Trump and the United States with "great pessimism", saying they are known for "quitting treaties and violating their commitments". "The United States and North Korea have been in a state of antagonism for more than half a century", China's foreign minister told reporters in Beijing after the Trump-Kim summit.

The vice president commended Trump on his success thus far with North Korea, speaking of that country's participation in the Winter Olympics, the suspension of all ballistic missile testing and, recently, the release of three American hostages.

In return for these vague promises, Trump gave up a lot. The agreement required Iran to curb its uranium enrichment in exchange for relief from worldwide sanctions. "But as we understand the impetus has been provided", he said.

Trump added in his remarks on Tuesday that the deal "cannot be renegotiated in any way".

Reporters first got a look at this absolutely batshit 4-minute video when it was played just before Trump emerged after the Singapore summit to answer questions.

Kim, though, did get something valuable - a meeting with a sitting USA president (something his father and grandfather never accomplished, despite great efforts).

But Trump argued that the joint military exercises with South Korea were "very provocative" and cost "a tremendous amount of money", complaining that Seoul doesn't foot enough of the bill.

As for verification, Trump said he and Kim discussed the issue and that monitoring denuclearization efforts would be achieved "by having a lot of people there". But something significant changed in Singapore: President Trump has met Kim face to face. Beyond the impact on both leaders' political fortunes, the summit could shape the fate of countless people - the citizens of impoverished North Korea, the tens of millions living in the shadow of the North's nuclear threat, and millions more worldwide.

He said he is certain Kim is honest in his desire to go nuclear-free and to usher in peace and prosperity for North Koreans.

Granted, the USA concessions are mostly reversible.

Warmbier was a student at University of Virginia who was arrested by North Korean authorities in January 2016 for stealing a propaganda poster and sentenced to 15 years in prison with hard labor. For weeks, the world has seen Kim engage in a kind of high-profile shuttle diplomacy among top leaders of China, Russia and South Korea. "At the same time, there needs to be a peace mechanism for the peninsula, to resolve North Korea's reasonable security concerns".
